An Amber Alert was issued Friday, … PHOENIX – A patrol officer spotted a suspected kidnapper's car and aided in the rescue of a 5-year-old girl, who was found uninjured in what police are calling Phoenix's "Christmas miracle." Natalie Flores was rescued at about 9:30 p.m. Friday, more than seven hours after she was scooped up by a stranger while playing with her sisters outside their Phoenix apartment building. "She is alive and well," police spokesman Sgt. Andy Hill said. Hill credited a "very alert" policeman with taking quick action after spotting what appeared to be the suspect's vehicle driving on a west Phoenix avenue, even though the license plate differed from reports. Officer Mike Burns pulled alongside and "saw a suspect that matched the description and thought he saw a small child," Hill told The Associated Press. He said the pickup sped off, and Burns gave chase and alerted the force. Officers put spike strips across the road several blocks away that punctured the suspect's tires, causing him to crash on the roadside. The man took off on foot but was caught and arrested a block away after a brief struggle. "She is alive and well thanks to the timely diligence of officer Burns," Hill said. "It is rare in stranger abduction cases so much time can pass without a tragic ending. This was truly a Christmas miracle." Police said the suspect is a 45-year-old man, but they haven't released his name and or any other details. Hill said the man was being questioned by police and held on charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault on a police officer and felony pursuit. The sergeant said Natalie appeared to be in good shape but was being examined by health officials. Police received the call that Natalie had been taken at about 2:15 p.m. An Amber Alert was issued, and authorities began combing the area on foot, by car and with helicopters. Hill said the child had been playing in a common area at the apartment complex with her two sisters, ages 7 and 9, when a man parked his brown pickup in a nearby parking lot and walked over to them carrying a camera. "He physically grabbed the 7-year-old girl and forcibly took a photo of her," Hill said. The man then forced Natalie into the truck and drove away. Witnesses reported that as the man was fleeing, he hit a parked car before entering southbound 19th Avenue. Natalie and her sisters had been staying at an apartment in the complex with an aunt who has legal custody of them, Hill said. The girls' parents live separately out of state. After the abduction, Natalie's older sister went to a neighbor's apartment and pounded on the door, The Arizona Republic reported. The woman who answered, Donna Reed, said the girl was carrying a ball and appeared to be shaking. "She said some man just took her little sister," Reed told the newspaper. "She was a nervous wreck." Preparation Time: 15 minutes Bake, uncovered, in 375°F oven for 40 to 45 minutes or until bread is puffed in centre. Apple Topping: About 10 minutes before end of the baking, heat large skillet over medium-high heat; add brown sugar and water, stirring, until mixture comes to a simmer. Add apples and cardamom; cook, stirring constantly with spatula and turning apple slices over, until tender but still have shape, about 4 minutes. Stir in butter until melted; remove from heat. Let cool a few minutes. Remove French toast from oven; let stand for 5 minutes. Cut into 6 servings; spoon topping over each. Sprinkle with icing sugar to taste. That this could happen before the most holy of all Christian services in the world is shocking. See the video below. The incident occurred on Christmas eve, Thursday December 24th 2009. Pope Benedict was walking down a path I know well having visited the Vatican as a tourist several times. Such is the world we live in today. A woman in red (no less) high stepped the barrier and rushed the Pope. She grabbed his Papal vestment gown and dragged him to the ground on top of her. His papal miter and staff crashed to the ground. The Pope's bodyguards who are unaccustomed to such challenges managed to wrestle the assailant to the ground. She was arrested and is now held without bail in Vatican City itself. In Italian the crowd rallied by chanting "viva il papa" as the Pope rose from the ground. Papa means Father in the native tongue. In most of the world the Pope is a the religious father figure to Christian people. Pope Benedict XVI has publicly chastised Barack Obama for his stance on publicly-funded abortions which are part of the Obamcare heath care plan which just passed the U.S. Senate on Christmas eve. The Pope was about to deliver a sermon on the sanctity of human life in the most hallowed ground in Christianity, St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. The Christian allegory in this incident will be unmistakable to some. In the coming days the parallel between this wannabe woman assassin and Barack Obama will be discussed in blogs and news sites everywhere. From a Christian perspective it is as if Barack Obama himself jumped a barrier to kill the Pope because of his offensive views on the sanctity of life. The everyday man, represented by bodyguards, rallied to save him. Pope knocked down by President Obama himself is a Christian angle to this story. Convenience Stores - Some CVS/Walgreens are open on Christmas for limited hours, check your local store's website for details. Here you can buy batteries, cards, candy, and small electronics. Grocery Stores - These also vary by location. Here you will find batteries, foods, candy, perhaps a small selection of electronics, flowers, baked goods, etc.. (you've been there before, you know the selection.) Gas Stations - I sincerely hope you do not plan on buying a gift at a gas station, BUT, with the pain at the pump Americans are experiencing, some gas stations will sell gift cards. Entrenched in the Athens, Ga. music scene, Chesnutt was a songwriter's songwriter; he first earned the admiration of R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe in the late '80s and since then was praised by countless other notable songwriters and musicians, many of which eventually collaborated with him. His most recent band included members of Fugazi, Godspeed! You Black Emperor and Silver Mt. Zion Orchestra, but over the years he collaborated with members of Widespread Panic, Cracker, Lambchop, Throwing Muses, M. Ward, Cowboy Junkies and many more. Chesnutt's national profile was elevated in 1996 when his songs were covered by an impressive list of contributors — including Madonna, R.E.M., Smashing Pumpkins and Garbage — for a Sweet Relief compilation album that benefited musicians without health insurance. Ironically and tragically, Chesnutt had health insurance and wasn't personally eligible for financial help from Sweet Relief, despite struggling to cover his significant health care costs. A car accident at the age of 18 left Chesnutt in a wheelchair, with a lifetime of complications. He told Spinner earlier this year that "right now, I am in huge trouble in that the hospital is suing me for $35,000 for payment, which is terrifying — and the rub is that I have health insurance." His heath care debt reportedly totaled more than $50,000 and his struggles with suicide and substance abuse have been well documented. Chesnutt leaves us with a catalog of 13 studio albums, including this year's critically acclaimed 'At the Cut,' which he was recently out on the road supporting. In a live review of one of those shows, the New York Times noted that Chesnutt's songs were contemplations on "not just mortality but also the broader inevitability of collapse and decay." In an interview with Spinner this past September, Chesnutt admitted that, as an artist, he was difficult to pigeonhole into one specific genre. "I was labeled as alt-country for years but I never saw that at all," he said. "I like it when you're confused by an artist for a minute. I like it when everything popping out of your iPod from a band is not the same crap over and over. That makes me happy." Vic Chesnutt — both the man and his music — made many people happy. And for Christmas morning there is coal in the stockings. The Wolf Pack, which entered Thursday's Hawaii Bowl as a two-touchdown favorite over SMUAloha Stadium as a once-promising season ended in back-to-back holiday disasters. and was trying to end a run of three straight losses in bowl games, was out of sync on offense and often completely lost on defense in an embarrassing 45-10 loss at "They out-played us. They out-coached us. They did an excellent job," said coach Chris Ault, whose team spent Thanksgiving night in a Boise, Idaho hotel a day before losing what turned out to be the Western Athletic Conference championship game to Boise State, 44-33, on Nov. 27. I wanted to finish my career right. I'm heartbroken for the seniors to go out this way." | Apple’s New Tablet Called iSlate? Posted: 26 Dec 2009 04:14 AM PST With rumors of the Apple tablet reaching new highs, MacRumors has found evidence that Apple acquired the domain name iSlate.com presumably in preparation for the new device. The iSlate.com domain was originally registered in October 2004 by a company called Eurobox Ltd. It later changed hands to Data Docket, Inc. in 2006. In 2007, however, the domain was transferred to registrar MarkMonitor.com. MarkMonitor handles domain name registrations and trademark protections for many companies, including Apple. As is typical, however, the name of the actual registrant was initially hidden to obscure the identify of the actual owner. Up until this point, one could still easily dismiss all this as a simple coincidence. However, after further investigation of the domain name registrant history, it seems Apple's name was temporarily exposed as the actual owner of "iSlate.com" for several weeks in late 2007.
